G.I.Joe ‘Sgt. Savage’ Discussion by Mitchell Smith!
Today I’m going to take a look at another 1995 G.I.Joe launch, and much like the G.I.Joe Extreme line, it only lasted that year. As you probably know I’m speaking about the SGT. Savage line. Another line I may not have bought at retail, but I purchased these in a collection and was pleased when I found these. 1995 was during my college days so I was running around getting drunk and chasing girls, so this was a line I knew nothing about until I acquired these by chance.
There wasn’t many characters in this line, most were just SGT. Savage in different outfits. Nevertheless, these came with some cool weapons and some really cool helmets. These were a bit larger than the 3-3/4 inch figures fans had become accustomed to, so they did not go well with them, but the gear was kind of cool. The lot I did get had almost every figure from the line and a Jeep. Unfortunately there was no tank or airplane in my lot. The ‘Grizzly’ is the Jeep I am referring to which is petty cool and has a likeness to the 12 inch Rhino from 1993.
The Iron Panther tank and the Warhawk plan both look pretty awesome, but I think I leave trying to track those down for the time being. There was also one 12 inch figure and it was just SGT. Savage. This looks really cool especially if you love 12 inch figures, this would be one I might try to get at some point. Over all this is a pretty cool line even though it was short lived I think if they had produced the fan favorites 3-3/4 inch figures alongside this new line it may have been successful, it’s hard to tell, but I’m sure fans were still very upset on the discontinuation of the 3-3/4 inch line, and probably hurt this line, but if you are able to get any in hand these are pretty cool.
